About Us

“Wai Yuen Ching She” was founded in Hong Kong in 1985 and is a registered non‑profit charitable organization under the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government.

“Wai Yuen Ching She” advocates the Lü Dongbin (a Tang dynasty scholar and one of the Eight Daoists Immortals) school of thoughts, which follows the philosophical teachings of the Quanzhen Enligthened Dao. Its purpose is to study and promote the Daoist thought and wisdom within Chinese culture, fostering a harmonious, integrated, and mutually beneficial social spirit, as well as establishing positive values (the expression of positive energy).

In addition to regular Dao‑study activities that share Daoist philosophy—enhancing like-minded participants understanding of Daoist teachings and their practical application (self‑cultivation: correcting one's behavior or conduct)—we also hold gatherings to celebrate the birthdays of ancient sages.

「“Ching She” refers to the ancient learning halls or study chambers where students pursued knowledge—what we now call schools. Thus, “Wai Yuen Ching She” is a school where the subjects of learning are the Dao (the cosmic operating principle—Truth) and its relationship to the philosophy of life, along with its practical application.
